What do I do if I turn in the number plates or deregister the car?

Verna must be notified if number plates are turned into the Transport Agency (Samgöngustofa) or deregistered.

Verna cancels the statutory insurance during the period in which the numbers were not on the car or the car was deregistered, even if the notification is received afterwards. Comprehensive insurance and windshield insurances are canceled from the date Verna is informed that the plates were turned in or the car deregistered.

Please note that when license plates are submitted with a label stating "use prohibited," the insurance will not be cancelled. The license plates must be submitted to the Transport Agency (Samgöngustofa) so that we can cancel the insurance coverage.

If the license plates are put back into use, Verna must be contacted.
