Liability Damage 🛠
Verna has received your damage report for your vehicle and has assessed the car as repairable 😊. The next step is to take the car to an assessment at a workshop. You can find a list of workshops here 🛠
We recommend contacting the workshop of your choice to schedule an assessment appointment. The workshop will inspect the damage, take photos, and prepare a repair estimate, which will be sent to Verna MGA. Once the repair estimate is approved, the workshop will arrange a repair appointment for you.
Windshield Damage 🛠
Verna has received your damage report for your vehicle and has assessed the damage as covered under the vehicle’s windshield insurance 😊. The next step is to book an appointment at a workshop and take the car in for a windshield replacement. You can find a list of workshops here 🛠
The deductible for windshield damage is settled at the workshop. You can check the deductible amount on your vehicle’s insurance certificate.
Comprehensive (Kaskó) Damage 🛠
Verna has received your damage report for your vehicle and has assessed the damage as covered under the vehicle’s comprehensive insurance 😊. The next step is to take the car to an assessment at a workshop. You can find a list of workshops here 🛠
The deductible for comprehensive damage is settled at the workshop. You can check the deductible amount on your vehicle’s insurance certificate.
Rental Car or Loss of Use
There are two options:
You can get a rental car for the reasonable repair period (approximately 14 days) in coordination with us. Rental cars are in category A, and more details can be found on car rental websites. Many workshops arrange rental cars, but you can also contact a car rental company directly. 🚗
You can request compensation for the loss of use during the reasonable repair period. The compensation is 4.500 kr. per day. To request this, you must send an email to [email protected] after the repair is completed and the final number of repair days is confirmed.
Do You Want a Settlement Payment Instead of Repairs?
If you do not wish to repair the car, you can request a settlement payment instead. You need to book an assessment appointment at a workshop (we recommend calling ahead). Once the damage assessment is complete, you can contact us at [email protected] to request the settlement payment.
Vehicles with liens or owned by financial institutions require authorization from the lienholder for the payout. If the car is owned by a financial institution, the payment will be made to them unless otherwise authorized.
Is Your Vehicle Undrivable?
If your car won’t start after the damage, you need to call a towing service to transport the car to the nearest workshop or Krókur if the damage occurred in the capital area.
You can call a towing service yourself or seek assistance from Árekstur.is or the police if they are called to the scene. Árekstur.is is open on weekdays from 07:45 – 18:30.
